My mother and father were divorced when I was five years
old. My mother remarried to a man who was physically,
mentally, and sexually abusive. I have grown to forgive
those who have hurt me; however, since I did not have
guidance, I had difficulties in knowing and
understanding how to be a good person.
I would pray to God once in awhile because my mother
would talk about how wonderful God was and how he could
help me with my problems. I knew about God and His Son
Jesus, but I did not have a relationship with them.
When I became an adult I was a little confused and
started to experiment with sex, drugs, and alcohol. I
thought that this was a normal behavior until I became
depressed and felt like there was something missing in
my life.
As I became an adult I realized that my behavior was
unacceptable. I felt insecure and worried that I would
not be a good parent. I felt like running away from my
problems but I knew that I could not run away from my
children or close my eyes to raising them. I felt like I
needed guidance. So I turned to God.

One day I was driving down the road. I said to God,
"Oh, All right! I am ready to give you my life, it
stinks anyways. Just one thing God, please send me
someone to tell me the truth. I don't want to go around
guessing what religion you want me to go into."
I parked my vehicle, looked down to grab my things
and all of a sudden a woman appeared in front of my car.
I was a little worried that the woman might try to speak
with me so I said to my children," hurry to the door."
The women said softy, "Excuse me, God told me to hug
you today." Those simple words gripped my heart; I
realized at that moment that God heard my prayer. God is
real! He actually listened to me. I thought that I had
been so bad that He wasn't listening anymore.
The woman said she had been praying for me for
months. Today was the day that God told her to go
outside and wait for me. She shared her experiences with
the Lord and how Jesus died to save me. She also said if
I accept Jesus into my heart, He would guide me to do
the right things in my life.
She said, "God loves me. It was not God who allowed
bad things to happen to me, it was sin. People have a
free will to do what ever they want to do, and if those
people choose to hurt others that is their choice and
not God's fault. God will not interfere with a persons
will. Unfortunately, some things that have happen to me,
in your life, are from the results of other people
sinning. Jesus said, "Forgive them they know not what
they do." Jesus said this because some people do not
know that they are sinning, but even though they do not
know they are sinning, they are still held accountable."
She continued to explain, "Just like when you were
younger and you were confused about right and wrong
behavior. Some people feel that they can live life the
way they want and have no consequences. It is the devils
mission to see you destroyed but it is God's mission to
help you to have a successful life. Some people think
that God allows things to happen and blames God for the
bad things that happen to them. Therefore those people
may never engage in a relationship with the Lord. Some
people are too angry to see the truth, but when you can
see that it is not God who did this to you, you are more
willing to give your heart and accept the truth.
The Bible says "So put all evil things out of your
life; sexual sinning, doing evil, letting evil thought
control you, wanting things that are evil, and always
selfishly wanting more and more. This really means
living to serve a false god. (Colossians 3:5-7.)
I told her that I made an attempt to read the Bible
but could not understand the words. She explained that
until I become born again I can not understand the
words. Born again is to commit your life to God and
start over again but this time doing it God's way.

If you would like to have a better relationship with
the Lord -- then it is time to ask the Lord to come into
your life and show you his love. The next step is to say
the sinner's prayer.
Sinner Prayer
Lord, I am sorry for my sins. Please come into my
heart and make me a new person. I believe that Jesus is
your Son and He died for my sins. I thank you Lord that
you have forgiven me of my sins and given me a new life.
I do believe with my heart, and I confess Jesus now as
my Lord. Help me to see and hear your words so I may
know you're purpose for my life.
In Jesus Name --Amen
